How to use Moroccan Oil

Moroccan oil has been causing a beauty buzz throughout the UK, but what exactly is it and how can it benefit you? Read on to find out.

All about Moroccan Oil

Moroccan Oil is a term used for products that are manufactured from Argan oil, which comes from the Argan tree. Argan trees are only found growing naturally in the deserts of Morocco and are a rare and endangered species. By law, only local women are legally allowed to harvest Argan tree’s kernels, from which the precious oil is extracted. This means that all Moroccan oil sold within the UK is responsibly sourced both in terms of the impact harvesting has on the environment and the remuneration of those who harvest it.

Whilst the strict regulation of Argan oil means that those with an ethical conscience can purchase it without needing to worry about the effect of their actions, it also means that the supply of authentic oil is limited and therefore it can be very expensive – but extremely effective.

You can use Moroccan oil every day as part of your daily shampoo and conditioning routine. Wash your hair as normal and then towel it dry so it’s damp but not dripping wet. Squeeze a small amount (around the size of a 20p piece) of oil onto the palm of your hand, rub your hands together then work the oil into the hair, starting at the routes and concentrating on the areas with the most damage. Once you’ve applied the oil you can brush, blow dry or straighten your hair as normal.

Applying Moroccan oil on a daily basis will give your hair a healthy, shiny and smooth appearance without the need to use lots of heavy products which can leave hair looking dull and lifeless. You can also apply Moroccan oil directly to dry hair which is particularly effective for increasing smoothness and lustre or providing protection from heat.
